Hey there! :) I'm here to blog about the Private Screening of the First Episode of CLIF! :) Really wanna thank Channel 8 for giving me this opportunity as I felt that it was an eye-opener for me since it was my first time being so up-close with the artistes! It was a great experience and I hope that this post would sum up everything!Think I was like the youngest there....Cos host Ben Yeo was like "你也是 blogger 阿" Do I really look that young and incapable ><

While waiting for the artistes to come / for the screening to start, I saw a number of Chris Tong's Portraits placed at the steps. Well i know anybody with better photography skills than me would have taken a nicer picture! The steps made it look nicer seriously!
And of course you have the fans from the different fan clubs supporting the various artistes! Joanne Peh, Chris Tong, Elvin Ng, Romeo Tan's fan clubs were all there! Without the fans, there wouldn't be the artistes! :) So I really respect the support the fans give since they would always be at all the events that their favourite artistes are attending!

The event is about to start! It's Ben Yeo the host for the event! :) He's super funny, a host is a host indeed.
“不要因为黄俊雄没有来而没有叫, 我注意你们那一班人” And so Elvin Ng's fans started screaming and cheering super loudly! Elvin Ng's fans were really damn awesome!! Even though he wasn't there, they cheered immediately seeing Elvin on the screen.
And so he started introducing the artistes! Let's see who was there on that day! :))
First up, Tay Ping Hui, 郑斌辉!

GROUP PHOTO! All so vibrant! Artistes are artistes indeed!
Then the screening starts! Before I talk about my views about this drama after watching the first episode and the details of it, do watch this video:
Lucky I found this video! Now I can use the screenshots of this video to describe the first episode and let you understand the whole picture clearer! :)
The start / first episode of a drama is the most important thing the drama needs. You need a captivating one, one that captures your attention, and it should give an overall introduction to the drama. I think I was quite disappointed in the starting because instead of seeing a nice start, I saw words on the screen! What is a drama? It is a video. Video uses pictures and scenes to tell the story, not words! Else we'd be reading books instead of watch it.
However, i like the way they portrayed Tay Ping Hui in the show. Troubled, worried, yet you know he's the leader who is going to solve the problem. Close-up shot. Quite interesting. And so the first episode was about riots. Riots in Thailand and in Singapore.
The riot in Thailand even had scenes of explosions! So I was wondering how on earth did they film that?! I mean they have to consider the safety or the actors and the people right? Or was it edited -the explosion was not there at all? Whether it's real or edited, it's still not easy to produce this film. So kudos to the directors and those who edited the film!
Hmm. Power Rangers? Batons instead of guns? I thought this scene was quite hilarious.
And so that brings me to the "realistic" portion that I want to talk about. They really used those plastic boards above ^ to fight. So in one of the scenes where these policemen were fighting against those who were rioting in Singapore, they even had to FALL IN and FALL OUT ??? I was like does this really happen in real life situations? Waste of time leh. LOL I mean true what, you are fighting a crisis and you still have to fall in and fall out o_O... What's the point of doing so?
And then that reminded me something. You know those HK police dramas? They looked so cool? But did you realise that actually all of the cases only had ONE criminal/ mastermind? That's why it's easy to film. But for CLIF, there's RIOTS -groups of people. Difficult to film eh? Shall not tell how they exactly handle the massive crowds, so do watch CLIF on 31st May 2011, Channel 8, 9pm! :)
My father used to say "toi hee siao, kua hee gong" (teochew). But isnt it because dramas are stupid thats why people watch it? If a drama is too realistic, wouldn't it be too real-life and no longer feels like you are watching a drama? Hmm I thought that was something that we should ponder about.
One character that really caught my eye was the one that Qi Yu Wu was acting as. You could tell that he had no family members and is a really lonely person even before he said he had no family members. Really liked his role/his acting. Best actor indeed. Elvin Ng's character was super hilarious/funny. He keeps yawning and he is portrayed as a lazy/ slacky kind of police who doesn't like to do extra work. I think he's too cute to act as a policeman! LOL!
So I would say that this drama is definitely ONE OF A KIND, and is very different from all the police/detective dramas that you have watched. Most importantly, it's action-packed with lots of great actors and actresses so I think it would be one that's worth watching! ^^
The end of the first episode really made me wanting to continue watching!! Now I can't wait for the Second episode!! So you guys should really watch it!
Anyway, after the screening, it was Question-and-Answer session! Those who answered got a CLIF goodie bag and an umbrella! It's so cool! But there're so many people, it's hard to snatch the prizes! So congrats to those who got it!
And then after that was photoshoot!
Bad lighting, bad lighting, this is the best i could do to save the picture! Sorry :( I will improve on my photography skills and get a DSLR!!

You know in those dramas the detective would just go into the house, take out a gun and just go into each room, point here point there then done? But in CLIF, it's not just that simple. They even brought GROUPS of people to go into the house, wearing protective clothing holding onto those plastic boards checking for safety for the police officers to check the house.
And then that reminded me something. You know those HK police dramas? They looked so cool? But did you realise that actually all of the cases only had ONE criminal/ mastermind?
